Protein is essential for maintaining muscle, repairing tissues, supporting enzymes and hormones, and meeting normal nutritional needs. But the question “How much protein should I eat every day?” does not have one answer that fits everyone.
A sedentary healthy adult, an older person trying to preserve muscle, and someone doing regular resistance training may have different practical protein targets. Kidney disease can change the calculation again.
